While family photography is my main gig, I also love doing maternity photographs (check out some of my images HERE).
There is just something extra beautiful and special during that time when a mom-to-be is falling in love with the baby they haven’t met yet, but knows their life is about to change forever!
As amazing as that time is for a mom to be, it’s also exhausting.
Sometimes just taking a day with your partner, friends, or family member to relax and unwind is the best medicine.
But where exactly can a hugely pregnant mom-to-be go?!
These are my top ways to spend your last weeks of pregnancy in Asheville:
Wake Foot Sanctuary: Massages and foot soaks?! Is there a better mix when you’re pregnant?! Even better, their website has a great Q&A section that preemptively answers many questions you may have about combining their services and pregnancy.
Asheville Salt Cave: Salt therapy is a completely natural and drug-free treatment that can feel great during your pregnancy. If you’re a beach girl at heart, it is a great way to get that beachy salt air into your system without leaving the mountains. It was also an amazing treat for my feet and ankles during my pregnancy.
Omni Grove Park Inn and Spa: If you’re feeling fancy, why not take a babymoon or even just a day trip to the Omni Grove Park and Spa? They have a wide assortment of pregnancy friendly services and once there you have full access to their indoor pools and spa area. It makes for an absolutely magical day!
Maybe you want less of a day trip and more of a “just meeting some friends for a drink” feeling.
With more and more people going alcohol free these days, Asheville actually has a lot of places with some amazing non alcoholic options. Here are some of my favorites.
W.A.L.K.: A super yummy restaurant and bar on Haywood St, they offer everything from non-alcoholic seltzers and hazy IPAs to “gin & tonics” and “margaritas.” It’s a great spot to meet up with friends and have some yummy bar food and drinks.
The Mule: A bar and event space that’s part of Devil’s Foot Beverage (makers of craft sodas) they definitely have some of the best selection of mocktails on their menu. They also have most of the supplies for sale on site so you can make your favorites at home. I love their cherry “mojito”.
Mountain Madre: Did you say non-alcoholic tequila?! Their NA margaritas are so delicious you would never know the alcohol was missing. Add their amazing tacos and guac and you will have an amazing date night.
No matter what appeals to you, do your best to take some time during your pregnancy to just relax and enjoy yourself. Your mind and body will thank you!
